Natalia Martinez MA, LMHC
Licensed Mental Health Counselor (MH19313) ArT-Trained
Natalia is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who earned her Masters degree in Professional Counseling from Southeastern University in Lakeland Florida. She integrates scripture and evidence-based techniques within her approach in the counseling process. Natalia is open to applying biblical truths to the clinical treatment as much as the client desires.
Natalia believes that we are all meant to live purposeful, rich, and thriving lives and counseling can be a step in that direction for some individuals. She understands that the decision to begin therapy is far from easy and often times it takes years before stepping foot into the counseling room for the first time. For this reason, Natalia aims to provide an atmosphere where every person feels welcomed, comforted, and ready to work towards their individual goals.
In therapy, Natalia balances a person-centered and solution focused approach with each client. Though she believes every person is responsible for their own growth, as a therapist she is reminded of Proverbs 27:17 (As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another) and thus is readily available to orient and direct as each individual allows.
Natalia works with adolescents, adults, and couples who may be facing different life or relationship challenges: trauma, anxiety, depression, marital distress, self image issues, grief, etc. Natalia also has a heart to help women who have experienced miscarriages navigate the grief and confusion that comes after a loss. She is trained in evidenced based techniques to address many of these issues. Her trainings include, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Gottman Level 1. Natalia also views marriage as a sacred covenant and believes preparation is essential for a life long commitment that can stand the test of time. She is trained as a SYMBIS Facilitator allowing her to offer a thorough assessment for engaged couples to learn about one another in a deeper way through pre-marital counseling.
Outside the therapy room, Natalia can be found enjoying some of her favorite activities (reading, exercise, meet up with friends, play dates, and outdoor activities) while mothering her toddler daughter and foster daughter.
