Josie Mojica, MA, RMHCI

Registered mental health counselor intern (IMH25946) ACCELERATED RESOLUTION THERAPY (ART) TRAINED

What you probably want to know most of all is a) do I know what I’m doing and b) what inspires me to work with clients with high anxiety and emotional wounds. To answer the first question, you can read my resume-type stuff in the sections below. To answer the second question, I love working with clients with these struggles because I've been there. I've been stuck living in the cycle of constant worry and overachievement, keeping myself from feeling and others from seeing any emotional wounds at all cost. Avoidance is my favorite defense mechanism, although it took me a while to figure out it was a false sense of safety. I learned that if I feel my feelings and engage my story without occupying myself in some other way, I can heal deeply and live fully —and so can you. Because I've gone through this too, I know the work it takes to get out.  I can't change you. You have to participate in your healing and I am thrilled to help support you in that.

My area of focus includes but is not limited to working with adolescents, college students, and adults on the following areas:

Constant worriers

Stressed out people pleasers

Anxious overachievers

Stuck in shame & low self -esteem

Overwhelmed college students

Burnout in work and family life

Women unsatisfied in relationships

Questioning self, purpose, or faith

Difficult childhood upbringing & trauma history

My approach is tailored to meet client-specific needs. I prioritize providing a safe and non-judgmental space for my clients to explore their inner world and work towards their desired outcomes. I may use various therapeutic models to help address these needs such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), story work, and a person-centered focus. Faith integration is welcomed upon each client's request.

I completed my Master’s of Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University and earned my Bachelor's degree in Human Ecology at Tennessee Technological University. I currently hold a provisional license as a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (IMH25946) while I finish up full LMHC requirements. I am currently practicing under the supervision of Chris Thayer, LMHC (MH10591).

I'd love to talk with you more to see if I may be a good fit as your therapist!
