CERTIFIED SYMBIS PREMARITAL ASSESSMENT FACILITATOR
Colin is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who earned his Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Florida, double majoring in Jewish Studies and Anthropology, with a minor in Religion.
Colin believes that the client-counselor relationship is the most important part of the therapeutic process and implements techniques that allow the client to experience situations in session that prepare them for what they are facing outside of the counseling office. Colin’s eclectic background influences his creativity and ability to connect with a wide variety of clients. Colin was studying engineering at the University of Florida when he began to pursue pastoral ministry and serve as a youth minister; this led to the desire to become a Hebrew professor. He then spent two and a half years in China teaching English and doing missions with his wife and son, who was 11 months old at the time. After a year into a seminary program to be a Bible translator Colin fell in love with counseling; he loves the messiness that is present in the counseling room. He often implements Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques to get at the root problem, identifying why people do the things they do so that natural change can follow. Colin has a passion for working with anger, anxiety, depression, teenagers, and anything that involves marriage or family. He also loves involving Jesus into the sessions to the degree that clients are comfortable.
Colin attended Plant High School in South Tampa and married his wife, Alexia, 10 years ago. They have 3 children: Jeremiah, Lael, and Neviah. When he is not at the office, Colin is usually spending time with his family, playing music, working out, running, or flipping their home.
