For years, I have had a notecard on the wall behind my clients that reads, “What is Father doing?” While I have done years of education at great Universities and Seminaries, participated in trainings from great leaders in the field, and worked in some of the toughest counseling contexts, the most foundational thing I have learned through all of these experiences is that God longs for your relationship, family, and YOU to thrive more than you do. The best thing I can do as a therapist is partner with what God, our good Father, is already trying to do in you or your relationship.

I have been in vocational ministry and served on the mission field in Southeast Asia, but I have seen some of the deepest moves of the Holy Spirit in the counseling room. When we slow down and step out of our contexts, we can become aware of the deeper patterns and cycles that keep us from relating to ourselves, others, and God in healthy and secure ways.

I have a passion for working with couples and men in the areas of:

Couples/Marriage Conflict

Communication

Preparing for Marriage

Anxiety

Depression

Anger

Identity

Addiction

Establishing healthy relationships (Boundaries and attachment issues)

Grief

Men’s issues

I use an eclectic approach to both individual and couples counseling that incorporates evidence-based therapies such as Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Attachment theory. This can be tailored to fit the needs, personalities, wounds, barriers, and context of each person in the therapy room. This also means that I incorporate faith to the level that you are comfortable with.

When not in sessions, I am likely at home with my wife and four children. Within the last few years we sold our fixer upper in Seminole Heights and bought a log cabin on 10 acres in Lakeland, which has been amazing for our family! I love to workout, run, study Hebrew, spend time in God’s nature, and work on the cabin.
