Time to Decide
By Daniel Grossman, Pastoral Counselor and Board-Certified Master Life Coach
Did you know the average person makes over 35,000 decisions both consciously and subconsciously each and every day. With so many decisions to be made the power of pre-decision could can come in quiet useful.
You may be asking yourself right now what exactly is a “pre-decision”, a pre-decision is a choice you make between two different choices. It’s the question, do I go that way or do I go this way, do I eat that or this, do I watch this show or that show.
It is prior to the point of contemplation where pre-decision is most effective before our minds are bombarded with options and many times temptations to make poor choices that will lead us down a path of destruction.
Decision such as do I eat that doughnut or that apple. Do I stay focused on what I’m working on the computer or do I choose to go to inappropriate places on the internet.
When you pre-decide to make the right choice before your confronted with a choice you will the right choice every time. When you pre-decide every decision will be made with precision. You have to take your stand while still sitting before the point of having to chose.
This is where the power of purpose kicks in, when you have already predetermined and pre-decided in our mind prior to getting to the fork in the road that you will make the right choice because you have already made up your mind to so there's nothing or no one that can sway your decision.
The Bible tells us in Daniel 1:8 the story of Daniel and him not eating the kings food it says he “purposed in his heart” that he would not sin against God by eating food offered to idols
Daniel had already made up his mind that he would not eat the king’s food because he knew that it would go against what God had pre-established for him as a Hebrew.
The Bible also tells us a double minded person can expect nothing from the Lord. The Lord honors and reinforces those decisions we make ahead of time to honor Him. Making one good pre-decision can be the momentum you need to see an catalyst of positive change.
